Asthma
Are you experiencing breathlessness and reduced lung function?
Obviously you want improved results that’s why you’re reading this hot off the press article.
Hello Friend,
Thanks for reading, I appreciate you.
Did you know that in their natural state, whole foods contain enzymes and antioxidants.
Fruit, veggies and anti-oxidants; is there a link to controlling your asthma?
It might be as simple as eating more fruit and vegetables because diets low in antioxidants (specific nutrients and organic substances that are found in fruit and vegetables, could improve your results)…
For example:
Antioxidants like carotene found in carrots and lycopene which is abundant in (highly concentred when cooked) tomatoes…
That’s why I’m an advocate of a diets rich in anti-oxidants.
If you want to take this one step further:
- Start reducing and even better still…stay way from processed foods
- Include fresh whole foods such as fruit and vegetables to improve your lungs
A recent study of a small group of asthma sufferers was put on a diet low in antioxidants and their asthma monitored.
(The levels in their blood of various antioxidants, such as carotene and lycopene, were also monitored.)
This modified diet…lowered the levels of antioxidants circulating in the blood in almost three-quarters of the subjects.
After 10 days those who had lower levels in their blood of the antioxidant lycopene – abundant in tomatoes – had their asthma symptoms worsen.
Stick with fresh organically grown produce and you can’t go wrong.
As you may not be aware, tomatoes when cooked provide a high source of anti-oxidant lycopene and contained a range of other enzymes and nutrients not found in lycopene tablets, which may be necessary for lycopene to have a beneficial effect.
